IPv6 Here Right NOW

IPv6 has officially been activated.  Do not worry, IPv4 is not going anywhere anytime soon.  It’s gonna take years for the full transition.  With the ever more connected world we were quickly approaching that 4.3 billion IP address limit provided by IPv4.  You know the four groups of three digit numbers separated by a dots with a max of 255 per number, ex. (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx).  Hey I never noticed that before, the old limit to IP address is almost the estimated age of the earth, coincidence or just nerdy, pretty sure it is the latter.

CNN Money (why not CNN Technology) reports that within the next two years, there will a minimum of three internet connected device per person.  IPv6′s max IPs will now be 340 undecillion. Ha! undecillion is not even in the spell checker dictionary.  Didn’t ever plan on us using that one huh!
