Free U.S. Phone calls to Land Line and Mobile c/o Gmail

I signed into my G-mail account this morning and received a pop-up stating free phone calls. I immediately thought, “Dammit some spam got through”, but lo and behold it was legitimate Google giving away more free stuff so that you would never leave them and they could continue to monitor your every click thus making billions selling your activity profile to the highest bidder. Hmm, I wonder. Can Google legally monitor your phone call like they do your email. We all know they have somewhat decent voice recognition technology which they used to auto populate captions on our Youtube videos. Oh well, cheap International Phone Calls here I come.
