Ah, good ol’ pre-order incentives. It amazes my how many titles are now offering incentives for buying their games early. And while most of the pre-order incentives are laughable at best, there are some that are truly worth your while. That being said, this ain’t one of the latter.
According to a recent press release, GameStop will be offering an exclusive Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls #23 virtual jersey for both PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 owners avatars if you pre-order the game. While PlayStation users will receive the home (white) jersey, XBOX users will get the away (red) jersey.
Okay, I could see this being a good plus for someone who is buying the game anyway to shell out the sixty bucks early and reserve their copy, but come on guys, you’re killing me here. Why in the heck would anyone see this offer, and want to buy this game otherwise. Offer me a gift card, new in-game content, a mini-game where I can play as my avatar, or something other than a jersey that is pretty much useless. Here’s an idea, why not give the jersey to everyone who simply buys the game period. Wouldn’t that be cool. I mean, come ‘on, I get a copy of NBA Jam for simply buying NBA Elite. And this comes from a die-hard Michael Jordan fan.
