Disney released the first official and quite lengthy trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time this week and I’m starting to think that this movie will do ok. Now, I’m not saying that its going to be good (that has yet to be proven) but monetarily I think it will do just fine.
The trailer drips of Pirates of the Caribbean, and Jake Gyllenhaal pulls off Persian just enough to play the roll (but that’s only if you keep in mind that Andre Agassi is half Persian, and that Gyllenhaal is half Jewish). It’s good to see some call backs to the game and while some of them work (the sand and dagger sequence), others don’t (the parkour).
With that said, I’m sure that women across the country will be waiting in line to see POP, the same way they were with Pirates. The trailer is bound to get mixed reactions from fans of the game seeing as The Sands of Time has one of the most beloved narratives in video game history. While I would give the trailer a 3 out of 5, I would have to say that things are looking much better since this god awful photo was released.

Remember when Pirates was announced and everybody thought it was a flimsy movie premise? Well, that one turned out ok, so maybe this game adaptation won’t be as cringe inducing as originally assumed.
I agree with you on every points. I guess this will be Disney’s new staple. Since they have all but worn out ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. I think their PR department are kicking themselves for releasing those original screen shots. But this trailer has almost completely erased my initial skepticism. I’m anxious to see where this goes.
I agree, i’ll actually check this out.
Awesome special effects!! I guess the guys will be looking at that and the girls will be looking at Jake. But whatever, it’s all good
It’s hard to believe the narrator voice coming from that woman(Gemma Arterton). Almost sounds like it should be from somebody else’s body…..
