Zombie Arms

Combat Arms is stepping into the Zombie Shooter World, but thanks to Nexon it will be free.   After playing about an hour of Combat Arms: Quarantine Zone, I must say I am really enjoying this new mode. If you are like Clarence and feel Combat Arms’ precise aiming mechanics will make for a good zombie game then read on to hear the play mechanics of this new scenario.

This game is definitely not Left 4 Dead.  You start the map with all players human (16 max per room I think) and have about a 30 second window to run around the map and secure a vantage point.  Once that time expires the game randomly turns someone into an infected, you will know who by the big red cloud of and the glowing eyes.

That person now must infect all humans by swiping at them (no more guns), which in turn makes them a zombie and puts them on his team with the same objective of infect the remaining humans.

As a zombie you are given 450 hit points, you are faster, have nearly 4x stamina, and all bullets do one point of damage, no matter where you are shot. (Head shots don’t do squat)

You can infect people with about three successful swipes.  The round ends when everyone is infected or until time runs out. (3 minute rounds on the server I played)

The only weakness the zombie has is that when they are shot it brings them to a cold stop and constant fire will push him back, such as stopping them from climbing up to the survivors or pushing them back off a ledge.  The zombie then has to circle back and try the ledge again thus burning time for the survivors.

One person alone will have a very hard time stopping a single zombie.  After time has gone by, (50% I believe) some safe zones will open up and the human can run inside for protection.

Gotta be careful though because a zombie might get in too before the doors lock.

Initially you will be turned off by this mode because the zombies are seriously over powering, but when you get a good team together, they can concentrate their fire and push back the zombies and possibly kill one. (450 shots!!!)  Oh also the initial infected (One human randomly chosen by the game to be the infected) starts with 600 hit points.

    This mode really sounds cool and I can’t wait for the team to play it. Not really a L4D fan, so I’m hoping this will tickle my fancy!

    Good ‘ol zombie mode. This gametype has been around for awhile, but it’s good to see them put some effort into implementing it into Combat Arms.
