Ok, have something to get off of my chest…
I admit it. I LOVE Halo. Deal with it, but I was pretty much shlacked before a recent podcast. Certain people claim that Halo is a “Mediocre” first person shooter. I asked them to name 5 FPS games that were better. They could not do it. Love it or hate it, the Halo franchise is one of the best game franchises (not just FPSs) ever. But you don’t have to take my word for it.
OK. Here’s how the aggregated scores for the highest rated games of the last few console generations break down:
First, the Halo games:
Halo (97)
Halo 2 (95)
Halo 3 (94)
Again, these are aggregated scores. Basically that means it is an average of every magazine/site that reviewed the game. Let’s look at some of the games that were mentioned as “better.”
Call of Duty 4 (94)
Goldeneye (96)
Killzone 2 (91)
Basically only two semi-recent games have a higher review average (Grand Theft Auto IV (98) and Legend of Zelda: OoT (99)). That’s IT.
Mediocre? I think not. Wait, maybe the reviewers were paid off. That’s usually the case when it comes to Microsoft, right?
I find it funny that no one mentioned Bioshock (96).

Dude, you know I am on board with your “Halo is good” arguement, but remember that our arguement on the podcast was the single player quality. Anyone that doesn’t play Halo multiplayer, is not going to like Halo multiplayer. At this point there is little to no jumping off point for new players. Halo’s single player campaign, while good obviously takes a back seat to the online action. It makes business sense to do this since, multiplayer is what will sell the game. But,yeah Bioshock’s single player is hands down one of the best single player campaigns I have ever played through.
I’m rating FPS games as a whole, which is where I made my point that night.
And yeah…Multiplayer is where its at….LOL

I have had some of the most fun ever playing Halo. You haven’t experienced multi-player until you have a house full of friends, doing it up on some Halo. I don’t know, I enjoyed playing through the campaigns also. Esp. the Halo 3 Co-op.
Call of Duty Rules … Halo Sucks… nuff said LOL.
Nah, it doesn’t suck, just not my cup of tea, but thats just my opinion. But it is a good solid game as much as I hate to say it.
