The New PSP is a Go

posted by Sergio Lugo II on May 30, 2009

psp-goIt’s still 2 days before 3E starts and we already have a huge announcement.  Sony hasn’t commented yet, but there is absolutely no way that this is fabricated.  There is a new PSP coming and most of the assumptions were true.

The leaked Qore video below tells us everything we need to know about the long-rumered handheld.  The video features John Koller the director of Sony’s Hardware Marketing Dept.  So, as I said…this is legit, or the most elaborate hoax in the history of gaming.

The PSP GO will not have a UMD drive, and rely completely on downloadable games and media.  It also slides open, much like the popular slide phones currently on the market.  The screen is smaller, its blu-tooth enabled, and the internal memory will be 16GB (expandable via a Mini Sony Memory Stick).  A few other game announcements were spouted off during the interview but the biggest news is the new hardware.

I don’t know if I like the placement of the analog stick, and a download only feature almost kills the purchase for me. Not being able to buy games second hand is a huge kill-joy, but if these are the kind of announcements we can expect from E3 this week, we are in for a treat.

wow… they really stepped their game up with this one… i want! This total redesign makes me more than believe that the ps3 redesign is true. Oh, and a good idea for them to keep the 3000 on the market.

Man that is awesome. I was wondering if it had a touch screen. But I guess they decided to hold that until the PSP successor is ready for the market
