I just bought the new HTC Touch Pro Alltel edition after my tried and true Motorola Q (orginal Q) had to be held together with tape and decided that it would enter random keys whenever I pressed the down arrow. I still love my Q though. It gave me nearly 2 years of faithful service. (Internet and Emulating) I now have my new baby.

The HTC Touch Pro like the Diamond has a 2.8 inch touch screen with the “Touch Flow 3d” interfaced layered on top of windows mobile 6.1 professional. Unlike the diamond however the Pro has a full qwerty “5-row” slide out keypad. I waited on the Pro cause I needed the qwerty keypad for my emulating since the screen does not support multi-touch and tactile feedback is a must for gaming.
A few spec pluses of this phone are: it has built in wi-fi support 802.11g, built in GPS, accelerometer for gaming and screen orientation, and a 3.2 megapixel camera with video. A side not on the GPS: Alltel wants to charge a $10 monthly fee with its GPS software but all one has to do is download good old free google maps and use the GPS in there. Hooray for being cheap. One omission I noticed all carriers have changed from the stock version is they all removed the internal vga camera which would be used for video conferences. Would have like to have it just to play with but not that big of a loss. The touch also has a touch sensitive directional wheel. The center is the enter key, the four poles is up, down, left, right, and the wheel is touch sensitive where you draw circles around it, clockwise for zoom in, counter-clockwise for zoom out.
A significant plus for my emulating is that this phone has a 528mhz processor and 288mb of ram. Shouldn’t drop any frames when emulating Mortal Kombat II with audio now. The one negative I see is the use of a propriety USB cable. Lose it and you are screwed for charging it and/or syncing it with your desktop. Also I have noticed the sluggishness stated in other reviews. This only occurs when trying to randomly jump between apps after a the phone is woken up from sleep. When its warmed up though, this phone flies. All in all I give this phone a thumbs up. Be aware though this phone is spanking new and thus is somewhat expensive, even with a two year agreement. Man do I hate mail in rebates.
