Certainly this will be a time that we all can reflect and be thankful for all that we have been given over the past year. Yes, another thanksgiving, which means another Black Friday. For those of you who are crazy enough to get out amongst the masses for holiday deals, here is a handy little site to use to prepare your Friday morning itinerary. In these troubled times, I guess we need any and every deal we can get. Once again, Happy Thanksgiving from the Techpedition cast, and hopefully you will make it back home with all of your appendages intact!

Crunchyroll to stream new Naruto eps after airing

Posted by Kary Brown On November - 17 - 2008

I love PR Releases…they make my job easier…

Online Anime Distribution Leader Inks Deal with Major Japanese Anime Producers

Crunchyroll is the world’s largest anime-focused content and social networking service, and with this partnership, is making a decisive transition from a platform for user-uploaded content to a platform for professionally-produced content.

The first program to launch will be NARUTO SHIPPUDEN, the most popular anime title by the trio of producers. Beginning January 8, 2009, Crunchyroll will offer episodes of the NARUTO SHIPPUDEN series, as well as a lineup of other blockbuster anime titles, as a “simulcast” for the first time immediately following it’s broadcast in Japan. Crunchyroll’s online community of 4.6 million users will be able to access the content in both subscription streaming and advertising-supported services.

So basically, this means that you will get to watch (english subbed) naruto 1hr after release with a subscription; 1 week after the release for free. And crunchyroll will be taking down all of their illegal uploads. This is a GOOD thing, folks…

Every Day of the Week

Posted by Kary Brown On November - 17 - 2008

I know some of you (ok…MOST of you) probably don’t know that I am sort of a musician and songwriter. I write songs and record them in my free time for fun. I had a discussion with one of my coworkers and she asked me what would I do if people started downloading my music for free, to which I replied “I plan on it!”

Well, here it is…take it!
(FILE: everydayoftheweek.zip 82.6 MB)

Track Listing:
1. Sky (eases my mind)
2. Myself
3. Flight
4. Rest My Head
5. Chillin’
6. The End
7. Happy
8. Hope

This took me like a week to record and it was done in my bedroom with Logic Pro, a Soundcraft Compact 4 Mixer, Condenser Mic, Fender Precision Pro Bass, Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster, M-Audio Keystation 49e, and a Rock Band Drum Set. Yeah, that’s right…a ROCK BAND DRUM SET!

I will get more into the technical aspects with later posts, but for now check out the songs and let me know what you think!

Quantum of Solace Opening Trailers…

Posted by Clarence Brown On November - 14 - 2008

In many ways, the trailers got me much more excited than the movie ever did. The first notable one was the new Fast and the Furious trailer. Looks like Vin Diesel will be coming back for a second run with most of the cast from the original movie. The trailer showed a crazy heist of a super extended big rig… Cant really explain this one, you gotta see it.

Next was the new Star Trek movie trailer. I really think this movie will appeal to trekkies and non-trekkies alike. Starts off with Kirk, as a young boy, being chased by some robot and running a car off a cliff. Okay, I know it sounds kind of crazy but you just got of see it. I’ll let you be the judge of the trailer. In two days, it will be released on the official star trek movie site in full HD glory.

CC: Deal Or No Deal

Posted by Clarence Brown On November - 13 - 2008

You knew it was coming. Due to the recent closing of 155 stores, Circuit City would be chopping the prices, or so it seemed. I guess I should lowered my expectations before I wondered into my local Circuit City today. After seeing the street sign while driving by, I though I would catch a steal, but upon entering the store and taking a closer look at the sign, I noticed it said that prices are “up to 30% off”, rather than “is 30% off.” I guess this explains why I didn’t see a SINGLE FREAKIN THING that was 30% off. Anyway, it’s a sales tactic, and I won’t blame them too much. But if your looking for a good deal from the Circuit City closings, seems like the later the better, unless 10% to 15% is enough to reel you in. I’ll check back in a few weeks.

A Techpedition into Valued Cheapness

Posted by Carl Minor On November - 13 - 2008

This little beauty is the DXG-595V 1080P HD camcorder.  This camera is currently classified as a hybrid camera due to its budget price and jack of all trades features set.  That’s right; this is one of those cameras that does no one thing “Well” and everything “OK”.  This camera records in 480P (60fps), 720P(60fps), and 1080P(30fps).  It records remarkable video in daylight settings (sample).  Low light however can drop down to web-cam quality (lots of noise).  However for 179 bux about 200 cheaper than a name brand with similar features it a great deal. If you would like the same features, save some more mullah and do not mind the aesthetics then the Aiptek Action HD 1080P for $149 may be the cam for you.  But hey it does comes with a remote for those times when you just can not make it out of bed to push record.
